What-is-the-Difference-Between-Inbound-and-Outbound-Links

If you have a website you have heard those two terms for sure.

In this blog post, I will explain what is the difference between Inbound and Outbound links and their roles in SEO strategy.

Links are a great way to connect things with other similar or useful content. For example, imagine all the roads that are connected and their responsibility is to lead people to another destination like a city, town, village or even a special monument. That’s what linking means in real life.

Now, the links on the internet have very similar definition and are quite like the example I said just before.

Link building on the internet world or especially in the world of websites, when you insert a link there are two options, the link goes to a specific page on your website or goes to someone’s else website.

Now, I hope you got a taste of what links are in general, how they are relative to each other. It is necessary to recognise the difference between the three varieties of SEO links. Inbound, Outbound and Internal links which I am going to break down right now.

What are Inbound Links? (Backlinks)

What are Inbound Links

Inbound links are one of the best things that you can do to get benefit from your website and increase and score a better SEO.

Inbound Links are when someone inserts your website link on a website that exists anywhere else on the internet even if it’s a social media platform or a website, and it leads to your site.

For example, to get you to understand better, let’s say that you own a blog about fashion niche and a friend of yours has also a similar blog about clothes. Then your friend decides to write a blog about a new fashion that came out lately and you have also written a beautiful blog post about that. Your friend decides to put a link that points to your website’s blog because it has more useful information on this topic that readers may want to click on to know more about.

In this way, you get an Inbound link from another website and that is a very good benefit because Google sees that and it may rank your website blog post higher.

Also, this is not guaranteed because the website that is linked to you should have a high Domain Authority (DA) to get the most out of this link. After all, high DA websites have stronger relationships and trust with Google.

However, if you manage to get any links from any website point to you, that’s great news!

What are Outbound Links?

What are Outbound Links

Now it’s time to find out what Outbound links are. Outbound links are the right opposite of inbound links.

Outbound links are those links from your website that go to someone else’s website.

Right at this moment, You might be thinking “Hey, why do I have to link to someone else’s website, my purpose was to land them on my website”

Yes, I agree with you, but the reason for linking to another website is not that.

The internet has millions or even billions of links, and Google and all the search engines regularly crawl those links, ranking them from the best link to the worst. So, if you have many links on your website, despite the fact of their types (inbound or outbound), search engines are able to watch that, and in this way, you get more chances of being ranked higher.

Just make sure that your outbound links are open in a new tab, so your visitors will not close your website window.

So, my opinion about that fact is to add links!

So, What is the Difference Between Inbound and Outbound Links?

The main and the only difference between inbound and outbound links is that the inbound links are pointing IN and outbound links are pointing OUT.

What are Internal Links?

As a bonus part of this blog, I am going to analyze Internal links as well.

Internal links are the type of links from your website that point to a page, subpage, category or somewhere on your website.

Personally, in every blog post I write, I make sure that I include some internal links to increase my chances of getting ranked higher. Also, when I insert an internal link is like I say to Google, “Hey look, I added an internal link that points to this page or blog post.” Google will see that, as a useful and helpful link that relates to its content.

As a result, Google and search engines in general, will rank your content higher.

Now i am adding this internal link that points to our Search Engine Optimization Services. Apart of this internal link example, we are here to help you with your website SEO.

In conclusion, I hope you understood this topic about the types of linking. I mentioned the difference Between Inbound and Outbound Links and I wrote some examples of them to make you understand them better. Moreover, I explained what are outbound links, and what are inbound links. Also, I mentioned the Internal links which are also helpful for your website health and optimize your on-page SEO score!
